History:
Serenity Place began in 1977 with the same purpose it serves today, a social detoxification and sobriety maintenance facility including care for indigent, under-insured and homeless clients addicted to drugs and alcohol. At its inception, Serenity Place was the only facility of its kind in New Hampshire. Today it is one of only
four such facilities in the Granite State.
Today:
Serenity Place offers four distinct areas of support for
those suffering with addiction: Crisis Services, available 24/7, including detoxification;
the REAP program, Resources for Evaluating Alcohol Problems, a state approved education curriculum for the Impaired Driver Intervention Program, Phase II and Multiple Offender Programs;
Intensive Outpatient Program for treatment of substance use
disorders; and the transitional living program for men at
Tirrell House.
Future:
2011 brought tremendous growth to the agency and 2012 will hold
more change as Serenity Place grows to meet community need in
the areas of tranistional housing, treatment and education. Staff structure will evolve with the needs of the organization and even more collaboration with partner agencies will create better outcomes for our clients. Our community outreach
is constantly on the increase and our sustainability will continue to strengthen with best financial practices in house and solicitation of more community support out of house.
